Squid Game The Challenges glass bridge pattern and order is so top secret only a few people kno

Squid Game: The Challenge’s glass bridge was perhaps the most exciting challenge yet. Just 20 players remained in line for the whopping $4.56 million cash prize when they took part in the daunting task. If they can crack the top-secret pattern and order of safe tiles on the terrifying challenge, they’ll be even closer to becoming a millionaire.

Squid Game The Challenge: Glass bridge

Squid Game: The Challenge’s glass bridge trial was featured on episode 7, with just 20 players taking on the task. The steps themselves were made of Perspex, a type of clear acrylic, not glass.

The contestants never knew which one was a pass or fail, as they all looked identical. If they stood on a ‘fail’ pattern, that would mean they’d ‘fall’ and be eliminated from the whole game.

Each time a player stepped forward, a message over the loudspeaker would alert them as to whether they’d passed or failed. Roland (Player 418) also suggested to everyone they should take a step in the bridge game.

Pattern and order of the glass bridge

The pass-or-fail pattern and successful order of the stepping stones was pre-determined. The pattern was so top secret that only a small group of people on the production side knew exactly which stone was which.

If the first player chooses the correct stepping stone, the second player in line should leapfrog them. Then the third player in line should leapfrog both of them and make the next choice.

This is what players done to ensure everyone would have a 50-50 chance at survival, while those who successfully passed one stone wouldn’t have to immediately choose again.

Contestants didn’t actually ‘fall’

The ‘fall’ through the trapdoor was done by a stunt performer, not the players. After each contestant stepped on a stone, they were notified if they’d passed or failed and their first reactions were captured on film.

They stepped aside for the stunt performer to physically perform the fall. Although the final cut makes it look like a long drop, the bridge was 16 feet high with a nearly 6-foot-tall airbag positioned underneath.

The stunt performers had to fall about 10 feet while the additional ‘falling’ seen in the episode was added with VFX. But those shocked reactions from players were 100 percent genuine, having lost out on the staggering prize money.
